"Did you lose your pen? Oh, that's too bad, freak."

Two beats, same room, same afternoon. First she taunts Leonard that he can't write a word down, then we watch him search a room with no pens in it. Minutes later he asks again and she answers, 'In my █████.' The pen was never gone — she'd stripped the room and kept it on her body.

The pen comes out only when she wants him to act on her information, and stays hidden when he might note what's being done to him. That is targeted, premeditated cruelty — and the video opens on it.

"I can say whatever I want and you won't remember. We'll still be best friends — or maybe even lovers."

She escalates until he backhands her, then smiles, says 'I'll see you soon,' and sits in her car until his memory ██████. She walks back in, still bloody, and tells him a man named ████ did it — then dictates the note in her own handwriting, the bruises Leonard gave her now reframed as a third party's assault.

She authored the kill order; Leonard is just the delivery system. The video shows her do it in real time.

"You're John G. So you can be my John G. Do I lie to myself to be happy? In your case, Teddy — yes, I will."

The film never shows █████ at the original crime scene — no flashback, no witness, no evidence. The only thing tying him to the murder is a Polaroid we literally watch Leonard label, choosing him not because he's guilty but because he's ██████████. A man who just got Leonard to kill the real murderer doesn't invite him out for a beer afterward.

The loudest piece of evidence in the movie was written by its least reliable witness. Why the casting and the reverse structure rig you to believe it is the reveal in the video.
